Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Home Health provides occupational therapy services to patients in their homes, aiming to restore their physical abilities. The OTA performs duties in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

1. Follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, adhering strictly to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
2. Instruct and assist patients within the scope of occupational therapy, based on evidence-based practices and state regulations.
3. Observe, record, and report patient responses and changes to the supervising OT, nurse, and/or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team as appropriate.
4. Educate patients, families, caregivers, and team members on therapy-related topics within your scope of practice.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

1. Current OTA licensure in the state of Virginia
2. Current CPR certification
3. Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
