Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to implement therapy programs under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. This role includes delivering ADL and ROM-based treatments, and contributing to group sessions in a collaborative rehab setting.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited OTA program, licensed or eligible for licensure, with strong organizational and communication skills to support residents’ independence

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Implements residents' individualized treatment plans under the supervision of the OT.
• Provides individualized OT treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
• Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
• Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the OT treatment program under supervision.
• Works with other rehabilitation team members to develop programs and activities.
• Maintains appropriate and timely resident documentation for all residents treated.
• Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy.
• Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment.
• Ensures residents receive high-quality service in a caring, compassionate atmosphere.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
2. 2 Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
3. 3 Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
4. 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
5. 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
6. 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
9. 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1 Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
2. 2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
