Job summary

Ambassador Healthcare at College Park is seeking a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team on a PRN basis in Fort Myers, Florida. The COTA will work closely with residents, the Occupational Therapist, and the interdisciplinary team to provide quality occupational therapy services promoting independence and safety.

Key responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, providing therapeutic activities, and monitoring progress.

Qualifications

• Active Florida COTA license required.
• Graduate of accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and committed to resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, mobility, and activities of daily living.
• Help residents develop independence with personal care tasks.
• Provide hands-on assistance during prescribed therapy activities.
• Monitor progress and communicate observations to the OT and healthcare team.
• Document treatments and resident progress per facility and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and infection-control policies.
• Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to support positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans based on residents' functional needs and goals.
• Provide therapeutic activities and interventions designed to improve residents' strength, coordination, mobility, and ability to perform activities of daily living.
• Help residents develop and maintain independence with personal care, dressing, grooming, eating, and other daily tasks.
• Provide hands‑on assistance and instruction during prescribed occupational therapy activities.
• Monitor residents' progress and communicate observations and concerns to the Occupational Therapist and healthcare team.
• Document treatments, resident responses, and progress accurately and in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, infection control, safety, and other applicable healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other interdisciplinary team members to support positive resident outcomes.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents.

• Current, active Florida COTA license required.
