Job summary

Sterling Therapy Providers is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support the occupational therapy program and help residents increase independence under the supervision of a registered OT. The role includes delivering OT treatments, participating in care planning, and contributing to group activities.

You will work with a rehabilitation team to implement treatment plans, document progress, and ensure compassionate care consistent with residents' needs and rights.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by AOTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for state licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident's individualized treatment plan under supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.
• Provides OT treatments including activities of daily living and ROM exercises.
• Performs ADL evaluations under direction of the OT.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups with the OT.
• Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in OT treatment techniques under supervision.
• Collaborates with rehabilitation team to develop programs for each resident.
• Maintains timely documentation for all residents treated.
• Attends resident care and staffing meetings as OT representative.
• Cleans and reports equipment needs for repair as necessary.
• Ensures high quality, compassionate service recognizing residents' needs and rights.

RATE: $28 to $33 PER HOUR

Per Diem Rate: $35 to $38 Per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Implements resident's individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
2. Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
3. Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
4. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
5. Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
6. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7. Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8. Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
9. Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10. Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
2. Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
