Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Responsible for implementing school-based occupational therapy programs under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Participate in and review evaluations and IEP reports related to students' needs.
2. Implement individual, group, classroom, and consultative occupational therapy services as appropriate.
3. Schedule students efficiently to optimize therapy service delivery.
4. Use evidence-based practices and appropriate materials to provide therapeutic services.
5. Collaborate with educational staff, therapy teams, and parents regarding occupational therapy needs.
6. Maintain accurate student files and complete documentation within required timelines.
7. Prepare and submit ACCESS billing for eligible students.
8. Monitor and document student progress using data collection.
9. Update treatment schedules and communicate with administration as needed.
10. Protect student confidentiality and data in compliance with HIPAA/FERPA and district policies.
11. Use email, word processing, Excel, and online IEP systems effectively.
12. Report caseload trends and student concerns to administration promptly.
13. Work collaboratively with supervising occupational therapists, adhering to practice acts and licensure regulations.
14. Attend staff meetings, in-services, and serve on committees as required.

Qualifications:

• Valid PA Occupational Therapist Assistant License
• Occupational Therapist Assistant Degree
• Pediatric school-based experience preferred

Physical Demands:

• Sitting for extended periods
• Kneeling, squatting, stooping, and bending from 50-70 degrees at the waist
• Twisting at the neck and back
• May need to move quickly or run occasionally
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 35 pounds
• Repetitive finger and hand movements
• Clear speech and good hearing
• Adequate vision to perform duties
