Job summary

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, Farmington Hills, MI, seeks a qualified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support rehabilitation services and patient care.

The COTA will work under an OTR, implementing treatment plans, documenting progress, and coordinating with the care team to ensure quality care and effective discharge planning.

A strong background in hand therapy, industrial rehab, and ergonomics is preferred, with NB-COT certification and BLS as required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university occupational therapy assistant program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred.
• Hands: familiar with U/E hand dysfunction and injuries.
• Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT certification required or eligible upon hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC preferred

Responsibilities

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the OTR, the COTA implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction. The individual in this position is required to appropriately interact with all patients regardless of age or culture and to adhere to the Beaumont customer service standards. Documents patient treatment according to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and professional standards of documentation. Submits charges for services provided. Maintains verbal, electronic and written communication with treatment team, including supervising OTR for purposes of goal setting, active problem-solving, treatment and discharge planning. Communicates observations of patient's conditions and reactions to treatment.
