Job summary

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support the Occupational Therapy team. The COTA will implement treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial needs, interact with diverse patient populations, and document care per regulatory standards.

Under supervision of the OTR, you will participate in goal setting, discharge planning, and communication with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited OTA program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics.
• Familiar with UE hand dysfunction and injuries.
• NB-COT certification or eligible.
• BLS certification preferred (AHA/ARC).

Responsibilities

• Implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction under supervision of the OTR.
• Interacts with patients of all ages and cultures and adheres to Corewell customer service standards.
• Documents patient treatment according to laws, rules, regulations, and documentation standards.
• Submits charges for services provided.
• Maintains verbal, electronic and written communication with treatment team, including supervising OTR for goal setting and discharge planning.
• Communicates observations of patient’s conditions and reactions to treatment.

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the OTR, the COTA implements treatment programs for patients with physical, cognitive, or psychosocial dysfunction. The individual in this position is required to appropriately interact with all patients regardless of age or culture and to adhere to the Beaumont customer service standards. Documents patient treatment according to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and professional standards of documentation. Submits charges for services provided. Maintains verbal, electronic and written communication with treatment team, including supervising OTR for purposes of goal setting, active problem‑solving, treatment and discharge planning. Communicates observations of patient’s conditions and reactions to treatment.

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university occupational therapy assistant program.
• Familiar with industrial rehab and ergonomics preferred. Preferred
• Hands: familiar with U/E hand dysfunction and injuries. Required
• Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy certified or eligible Upon Hire required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association preferred Or
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross preferred
