Job summary

Methodist Hospitals seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical care. You will assist in the operating and delivery rooms, scrub for OB procedures, perform counts, and maintain sterile technique. Duties include stocking supplies, organizing equipment, and supporting the birth certificate process.

Strong knowledge of sterile procedures and teamwork in high-stress environments is essential. Certification timing and experience in labor and delivery enhance candidacy.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in surgical technology from an accredited institution.
• Healthcare/Medical - Surgical Services is preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Surgical Technologist certification within one year of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hourly rounds on patients and obtain vital signs.
• Set up and prepare OR and delivery rooms; ensure cleanliness and turnover.
• Perform scrub duties for obstetrical procedures (C-section, hysterectomy, D&C, placenta removal).
• Perform instrument and sponge count at procedure start and end.
• Restock supplies in OB areas and organize equipment for next case.
• Maintain physician preference file.
• Take inventory and rotate stock; prepare orders for manager signature.
• Assist with birth certificate worksheet and transmittal to State.
