Job summary

Bell Hospital seeks an Obstetrics Surgical Technician Certified to function as an unlicensed assistant to the RN, supporting hands-on patient care and surgical operations in the OB suite.

You will maintain sterile technique, prepare delivery rooms, transport patients, and participate in department meetings; required CST and BLS; grandfathering for non-certified OB techs hired before 2008.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Surgical Technology Certification or degree completion from Surgical Technician Program required. Obstetrics Technicians without certification hired before January 31, 2008 are grandfathered.

Responsibilities

• Validate competency with hand washing, vital signs, glucose meter, escorting patients to triage, and preparing delivery rooms.
• Scrub for procedures in OR and assist with sterile technique and instrument counts.
• Provide patient comfort and report changes to RN/charge nurse.
• Assist with transfers, discharge planning, and unit coordination.
• Attend conferences, in-service programs, and meetings as scheduled.
• Participate in cost containment and quality improvement efforts.
