Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a part-time night shift. You will set up sterile fields, support surgeons and nurses, and help ensure aseptic technique for procedures.

Requirements include an accredited surgical tech training program, NBSTSA certification within 12 months, a high school diploma, CPR certification or obtain within 60 days, and at least 6 months experience as a nursing assistant and surgical tech with OB experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited surgical tech training program.
• NBSTA Certification must be obtained within 1 year of completion of program.
• High School Diploma.
• CPR certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 months as a nursing assistant and surgical tech with previous OB experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain sterile fields for surgery.
• Pass instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and handle specimens.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Clean OR post-procedure and prepare tools for sterilization.

Position Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a key role in the operating room, supporting surgeons and nurses in delivering exceptional care. You’ll prepare sterile instruments, maintain a safe environment, and ensure everything is ready for successful procedures.
