Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is hiring a Certified Nurse Assistant I for the IMC, Progressive Care Unit in Wilkes Medical Center. This PRN, part-time position requires high school completion, NC Nurse Aide I credentials, BLS, and patient-care duties under RN guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a NC State-approved Nurse Aide I course.
• Currently registered as Nurse Aide I with NC DHHS Regulation.
• BLS certification required.
• PEARS may be required within one year in select areas.

Responsibilities

• Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures including interviews, data documentation, and vital signs.
• Participate in nursing process under RN/LPN guidance with direct patient care.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensure cleanliness and restock equipment.
• Communicate patient information accurately within the healthcare team.
• Collect and process specimens for diagnostic testing per policy.
• Document all patient care in medical records per center policy.
• Maintain competency for point of care testing as assigned.
• Communicate professionally with healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Take responsibility for professional growth and development.
• Provide age-specific patient care per clinical guidelines.
• Follow infection prevention policies and safe handling of biohazards.
