Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI, is seeking a CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT to join our POST SURGICAL CARE UNIT team!

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a vital member of the patient care team, responsible for assisting with patient care under the general direction of a Registered Nurse. The CNA operates within the Professional Practice Model of Aspirus, which provides a set of values and beliefs guiding clinical practice and nursing service decisions.

HOURS: Full-Time or 0.9 FTE, 72 hours biweekly, with varied shifts including weekend and holiday rotations.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of patient care standards and practices, typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, along with a nursing assistant course.
  • One year of experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting is beneficial, as is previous work in a post-acute care setting or nursing home.
  • Current listing on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry is required; a current registry is recommended.
  • For Float, Palliative Care Unit (PCU), Home Health, and Hospice, a current CNA registry is required.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire; maintaining BLS training through approved programs is required.
  • Annual continuing education (CEUs) as recommended by the Education Council.
