CNA-Med Tech Job Summary

As part of a strong clinical team, providing excellent care and service to our residents is the primary responsibility of our Med Tech. The purpose of this position is to administer medications to residents, ensuring they receive the necessary care to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being through comprehensive assessment and care planning. The CNA-Med Tech works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, following State and Federal regulations and facility procedures, reporting observations to the licensed nurse on duty, and maintaining clean and orderly medication administration equipment. Reports to Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

• Administers scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician orders via scanning, per policy, to assigned residents
• Monitors and records vital signs according to physician orders and standards of practice
• Reports any unusual or adverse medication side effects to the Charge Nurse
• Maintains accurate documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practices
• Assists the Charge Nurse with returning, re-ordering, and destroying medications per facility policy
• Notifies the Charge Nurse of any outdated medications and projected shortages of medications or supplies
• Makes suggestions to improve or streamline the medication system to the Charge Nurse

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and listed on the Maine CNA Registry
• Ability to interact with our computer-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
