CNA-Med Tech Job Summary

As part of a strong clinical team, providing excellent care and service to our residents is the primary responsibility of our Med Tech. The purpose of this position is to administer medications to each resident, ensuring they receive the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being through comprehensive assessment and care planning. The CNA-Med Tech works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, as assigned, and in accordance with State and Federal regulations and facility procedures. They report observations to the licensed nurse on duty and maintain clean, orderly equipment for medication administration. Reports to Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Administers scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician orders via scanning, per policy, to assigned residents.
  • Monitors and records vital signs according to physician orders and standards of practice.
  • Reports any unusual or unwanted medication side effects to the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practices.
  • Assists the Charge Nurse with returning, reordering, and destroying medications per facility policy.
  • Notifies the Charge Nurse of any expired medications and projected shortages of medications or supplies.
  • Makes suggestions to resolve problems or streamline the medication system to the Charge Nurse.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and listed on the Maine CNA Registry.
  • Must be able to interact with our computer-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
