STGi is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide services to our Georgia War Veterans Home.
Job Summary
The general duty of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan and as directed by supervisors.
Essential Functions
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor as soon as practical.
- Weigh residents in accordance with his/her plan of care.
- Report any significant weight loss or weight gain to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor in accordance with facility policies.
- Measure residents’ temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake, output, and food consumption and document in the official medical record.
- Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water on each shift and within easy reach of the resident.
- Prepare residents for meals (e.g., take to bathroom, wash hands, etc.).
- Record the resident’s food/fluid intake; report changes in eating habits.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of care interventions based on resident needs and preferences.
- Monitor and evaluate the resident’s response to care plan interventions.
- Care for residents with mental and psychosocial disorders, including trauma and PTSD, as per facility policies.
- Assist in preparing residents for exams, tests, and procedures; support or escort residents to appointments.
- Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments and social activities.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal care activities.
- Assist with mobility, including lifting, turning, and transferring residents.
- Apply non-sterile warm/cold compresses, slings, bandages, and binders as instructed.
- Support residents with meaningful activities tailored to their abilities.
- Change bed linens and check for skin issues to prevent pressure injuries.
- Collect specimens and maintain intake/output records.
- Attend shift change reports and perform restorative procedures as planned.
- Provide non-pharmacological pain management and range of motion exercises.
- Perform eye and ear care as instructed.
- Report injuries of unknown origin and skin breakdowns.
- Greet residents, escort them, and provide orientation.
- Assist nurses with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Inventory and update residents’ personal possessions.
Required Experience
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to assess patient condition and react swiftly in emergencies.
- Knowledge of age-specific customer service techniques.
- Effective communication skills, including proper telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare software.
- Detail-oriented with multi-tasking ability.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training and competency evaluation program.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed CNA in Georgia.
