Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Aide for a full-time day shift in Libertyville. The role supports RNs with routine patient care, including bathing, feeding, and mobility, and requires cleaning and maintaining patient areas.

You will document vital signs, I&O, and weights in the EMR and participate in admissions, transfers, and discharges under RN supervision. Required are a high school diploma or GED/HSED, BLS certification within 45 days, and ongoing hospital-based certification updates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HSED completed.
• Must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measure and document vital signs, intake/output, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR.
• Perform rounding and communicate observations and patient/family needs to RN.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge activities and ensure patient call lights are reachable.
• Collect urine, stool, and sputum samples and perform point-of-care testing as required.
• Run errands and manage supply stocking for nursing area; clean equipment and work areas.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport; support nutritional needs and diet plans.
• Help maintain skin integrity and use appropriate patient supplies and devices.
• Under RN direction, may remove IVs, assist post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans.
• Follow infection prevention policies and procedures; enforce hand hygiene and sterile technique.
• Provide care appropriate to patient age, considering growth and development needs.
