Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under supervision, provides basic nursing assistance and helps residents with daily activities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Valid CNA certification in the state of employment.

Experience

• Six months experience in a long-term care setting preferred.

Job Functions

• Respond to signal lights and bells to assess resident needs.
• Assist residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair care, and incontinence care.
• Help with feeding by obtaining food trays and assisting residents.
• Support residents with range of motion exercises and movement to wheelchairs or activity areas.
• Assist with turning and positioning in bed.
• Help residents with ambulation over short distances within the facility.
• Record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, food, and fluid intake/output as directed.
• Perform other assigned tasks.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergencies.

• Effective communication with residents, families, and staff.
