Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen, TX seeks a patient care support staff member to provide essential nursing assistance under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will care for patients across multiple units, ensuring comfort and safety throughout their healthcare journey.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, a Nursing Aide certification or related credential, and BLS certification. Prior hospital experience is preferred, with a commitment to compassionate care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing aide certification or related field preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• 1 year hospital experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Under supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic/intermediate nursing care.
• Care for patients 18+ in various units including Endoscopy, Emergency, Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych, and Mother/Child.
• Assist with patient comfort, safety, and basic procedures as assigned.

Job Summary

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Under close supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.

General Nursing Units care for patients from age 18 years to maturity. Unit specific variation may apply.

Special Care Areas care for patients 18 years through adult with high-risk conditions.

Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition.

Nursery care includes care for the newborn until discharge.

Endoscopy Unit cares for patients 18 years and older.

Emergency Department provides care to patients of all ages.

Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych Unit provides care for patients 17 years and older requiring psychiatric care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year hospital experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of a current state or national nurse's aide certification or a certification as a phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical assistant, EKG tech or in another related field.

Preferred Certifications/Licensure:

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS -Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.
