Job summary

Valley Baptist Health System is seeking a patient care support professional to assist licensed nurses with basic care, comfort, and patient experience. The role spans multiple units, including general inpatient care, maternal-child and emergency services, with a focus on safety and compassion.

Under close supervision, you will perform assigned tasks, maintain patient dignity, and participate in ongoing training to meet established competencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year hospital experience preferred.
• Current state or national nurse’s aide certification or related certification required (phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical assistant, EKG tech).
• BLS/CPR certification obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Care for patients aged 18+ on general units and adapt to unit-specific needs.
• Support maternal-child, nursery, endoscopy, ED and behavioral health units as assigned.
• Complete competencies within introductory period and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Full Time, Days

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Under close supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.

General Nursing Units care for patients from age 18 years to maturity. Unit specific variation may apply.

Special Care Areas care for patients 18 years through adult with high-risk conditions.

Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition.

Nursery care includes care for the newborn until discharge.

Endoscopy Unit cares for patients 18 years and older.

Emergency Department provides care to patients of all ages.

Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych Unit provides care for patients 17 years and older requiring psychiatric care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year hospital experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of a current state or national nurse’s aide certification or a certification as a phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical assistant, EKG tech or in another related field.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS –Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.
