Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is seeking a Clinical Nursing Assistant to coordinate and deliver patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, monitoring vital signs, ADLs, specimen collection, wound care, and transporting patients and specimens, while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Qualified applicants will hold a nursing assistant certification with NC BON and a current BLS

Qualifications

• Must have nursing assistant certification (NCBON) or Nurse Aide I registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient’s condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
• Provides care/treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to: Monitoring of vital signs, Measurement of height and weight, Specimen collection, Skin preps/scrubs such as CHG bathing, Catheter care, Capillary blood glucose checks, Simple wound care, Range-of-motion exercises, Drain care, Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care.
• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist.

Education

Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) / Nurse Aide I (NCA I) registration

• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
