Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nursing Assistant for the Nursing Flex Pool on a per diem basis. Evening shift is 5:00pm to 9:00pm, onsite at PARDEEHOSP, with a standard of 8 hours per week.

You will coordinate and deliver patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assist with examinations and procedures, document patient information, and support ADLs, mobility, and discharge processes.

Required: nursing assistant certification (NCBON) and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must have nursing assistant certification, such as Nurse Aide I registration as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and health care providers with examinations and procedures, and procure equipment and supplies during emergencies.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes to a nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families with admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care and treatments per plan of care including monitoring vital signs, measuring height/weight, specimen collection, CHG bathing, catheter care, capillary glucose checks, wound care, ROM exercises, drain care, and ADLs.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, manage supplies, and transport patients/specimens as needed.
• Ensure competency in required skills and complete annual competency assessments per policy.

Summary:
The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.

• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.

• Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to:

• Monitoring of vital signs

• Measurement of height and weight

• Specimen collection

• Skin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing

• Catheter care

• Capillary blood glucose checks

• Simple wound care

• Range-of-motion exercises

• Drain care

• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care

• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.

• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
