Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina seeks a Clinical Nursing Assistant to coordinate and deliver patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, monitoring vital signs, and helping patients with ADLs, admissions, and discharges. You will maintain charting, safety, and a clean work area in the Progressive Care Unit.

Qualifications

• Must have nursing assistant certification (Nurse Aide I) per NC Board of Nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Ability to coordinate care and communicate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examinations and procedures and procure equipment during emergencies.
• Observe and document patient information, reporting changes promptly.
• Assist with admission, orientation, and discharge of patients.
• Monitor vital signs and collect specimens as directed.
• Provide basic care (bathing, feeding, mobility) per plan of care.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and transport patients or specimens.

Summary: The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
• Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to:
• Monitoring of vital signs
• Measurement of height and weight
• Specimen collection
• Skin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing
• Catheter care
• Capillary blood glucose checks
• Simple wound care
• Range-of-motion exercises
• Drain care
• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care
• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients / specimens throughout hospital.
• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
