Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nursing Assistant to coordinate and deliver patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include observing and documenting patient information, assisting with admissions and discharges, and providing essential care such as vital signs, specimen collection, and ADL assistance. Night shift, full-time, onsite at Pardee UNC Health Care facility.

Qualifications

• Must have nursing assistant certification from NC BON
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes promptly
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge
• Provide care per plan of care including monitoring vital signs and measurement of height/weight
• Perform catheter care, capillary glucose checks, and simple wound care
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility as outlined in the plan of care
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized work area and transport samples as needed

Summary: The Clinical Nursing Assistant is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
• Assists patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic/home health experience, and discharge.
• Provides care/ treatments to patients as outlined in plan of car e including, but not limited to:

• Monitoring of vital signs
• Measurement of height and weight
• Specimen collection
• Skin preps/scrubs such as chlorohexidine (CHG) bathing
• Catheter care
• Capillary blood glucose checks
• Simple wound care
• Range-of-motion exercises
• Drain care
• Assist patients with routine activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, feeding and assisting with ambulation as outlined in plan of care
• Maintains an effective clinical work environment including but not limited to cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring suppl y levels, and transporting patients /specimens throughout hospital.

• Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
