Job summary

Riverstone Memory Centre in Houston, TX is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Memory Care team. You will provide person-centered care to residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia during 12-hour day shifts.

The ideal candidate will hold a Texas CNA license, have strong interpersonal skills, and be committed to maintaining residents’ dignity, comfort, and quality of life in a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Previous memory care/assisted living or dementia care experience preferred.
• Experience with Alzheimer's/dementia is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
• Ability to lift, reposition, transfer, and assist residents during a 12-hour shift.
• Infection control knowledge and HIPAA/compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility.
• Measure and document vital signs; report changes to licensed nurse.
• Observe and communicate changes in resident condition to the nursing team.
• Assist with mobility, exercise, and restorative care as directed by staff.
• Provide emotional support and companionship while promoting dignity and independence.
• Respond to call lights and emergency situations promptly and professionally.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment following infection prevention protocols.
• Document care and observations in medical records.
• Assist with meal service, hydration, and feeding when needed.
• Collaborate with nurses, caregivers, therapists, and other team members.

In this role, you will provide exceptional, person-centered care to residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia during 12-hour day shifts. Working closely with the nursing team, you will help residents maintain their comfort, dignity, independence, and overall quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.

Job Overview

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play an essential role in delivering daily care and emotional support to our residents. The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient, and committed to providing high-quality care while building meaningful relationships with residents and their families. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility assistance.
• Measure, monitor, and document residents' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, reporting any significant changes to the licensed nurse.
• Observe residents for changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition and communicate concerns promptly to the nursing team.
• Assist residents with mobility, exercise, and restorative care activities as directed by nursing or therapy staff.
• Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship while promoting residents' dignity, independence, and well-being.
• Respond promptly and professionally to resident call lights, requests, and emergency situations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for residents by following infection prevention and safety protocols.
• Accurately document resident care and observations using electronic or paper medical records.
• Assist with meal service, hydration, and feeding when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, caregivers, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional resident care.
• Follow all facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Previous experience in memory care, assisted living, long-term care, or skilled nursing is preferred.
• Experience working with residents living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
• Ability to safely lift, reposition, transfer, and assist residents throughout a 12-hour shift.
• Knowledge of infection control practices, resident rights, and HIPAA regulations.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule

• Full-time
• 12-hour Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Weekend and holiday availability may be required based on the staffing schedule.

• Memory Care Assisted Living community specializing in dementia and Alzheimer's care.
• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on providing compassionate, resident-centered care.
• Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting residents throughout the shift.
• Reports directly to the Health & Wellness Director or designated nursing supervisor.
