Job summary

The Aspenwood Company in Houston is hiring experienced CNAs to provide high-quality senior care in a warm, home-like setting. Full-time staff may have access to license sponsorship to obtain a CNA credential and support with flexible shifts.

Roles include assisting with daily living activities, meals, social activities, and maintaining accurate records while ensuring safety and compassionate care for residents.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification is required.
• CPR certification must be current.
• 1 year of resident care experience preferred, 6 months minimum.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities while promoting independence.
• Serve meals and help with nutrition and hydration.
• Encourage socialization through leisure activities.
• Maintain accurate, timely records of activities and observations.
• Keep environment clean and safe, assist in emergencies.
• Notify if resident cannot be located and sign out reminders.
• Work as part of a collaborative care team; maintain professional appearance.
• Attend required in-service trainings and participate in emergency response.

Location: The Village of River Oaks, an Independent and Assisted Living with Memory Care senior community

Shifts Available:

• 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
• 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
• 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

PRN – all shifts

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and dining, while encouraging independence and respect.
• Serve meals in the dining room or residents' apartments, assist in meal preparation, and promote proper nutrition and hydration, respecting residents' right to free choice.
• Participate in and initiate leisure activities, encouraging residents to socialize and form friendships.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, documenting leisure activities, incidents, observations, and changes in residents' conditions.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment by performing general housekeeping duties.
• Follow proper procedures during emergencies and respond promptly to resident requests for assistance.
• Keep track of residents' locations, remind them to sign out when leaving, and promptly report if a resident cannot be located.
• Promote teamwork through positive interactions with co-workers.
• Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
• Attend all required in-service training sessions.
• Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Current CNA certification.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current CPR certification.
• 6 months to 1 year of prior resident care experience, preferably with seniors.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and attention to detail.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
