Summary

The Malcom Randall VAMC is recruiting for Nursing Assistants within Nursing Acute Care. The Nursing Assistant will provide support for veteran patients, including personal care, support for diagnostic procedures, delegated nursing treatments, documentation, and basic patient instruction under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

1. Perform personal care, diagnostic support duties, and treatments under the supervision of a professional nurse.
2. Respond to patients' physical and emotional needs, recognizing deviations from normal.
3. Participate in planning and prioritizing nursing care based on patient needs.
4. Identify changes in patient conditions and participate in team meetings.
5. Reinforce patient and family education, complete documentation, and maintain a safe environment.
6. Participate in unit maintenance and adhere to infection control guidelines.
7. Communicate professionally and courteously with patients, families, and staff.
8. Work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisors, demonstrating a proactive attitude.

Work Schedule

Day and night shifts, 12-hour rotations, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen, proficient in English, pass background and drug screening, and meet physical and educational requirements. Preferred experience includes at least 2 years in geriatrics, long-term care, or medical-surgical settings. Basic requirements include six months of general experience or related education or training.
