Job summary

Presbyterian Living's Westminster Place in Evanston seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant Float to deliver direct and supportive care under nurse supervision. The role covers skilled nursing or assisted living, with a 7am-3pm shift and every other weekend.

You must be Illinois CNA with CPR, fluent English, and good communication. The team values compassion and teamwork as residents receive personalized attention.

Qualifications

• CNA certification in Illinois is required.
• CPR certification is required (American Heart Association).
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Carry out nursing care within the scope of training and as assigned by the charge nurse.
• Adhere to Presbyterian Homes policies and standards of care.
• Protect residents' rights and dignity.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors to support residents’ social and recreational needs.
• Establish positive relationships with residents and provide daily living assistance as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.

$20.35- $29.30 Hourly Rate (Based on years of experience) plus shift and weekend differentials.

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents. This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department. The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes standards of care of the nursing department.
• Guards residents’ rights.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors. Interacts with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.
• Uses good interpersonal skills in establishing a relationship with the residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Preforms other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

Qualifications & Skills

• CNA Certification in the state of Illinois.
• CPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.
• Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Good communication skills.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of the needs of general patients.
