Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the PCU/Telemetry unit. This full-time night shift (3x12s, 7p–7a) includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment, and a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 22-bed unit.

You will perform basic patient care under RN supervision, monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, document changes, and support a team of RNs, Telemetry Techs, and unit secretaries.

Qualifications

• Current CNA listing with NC Division of Facility Services preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs and intake/output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, ambulation).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keeps patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

More About Our Team

Join our team in a 22-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. We are staffed with RNs, CNAs, Telemetry Techs, and unit secretaries, providing specialized care for patients primarily diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilizing advanced cardiac monitoring technology to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure optimal outcomes for our diverse patient population.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current listing as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services and a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Current Listing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with the state of North Carolina Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property in a facility that provides Nursing Care.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Telemetry Tech ONLY: Completion of a basic telemetry monitoring course and/or completion of competency training for basic arrhythmia interpretation may be required as determined by the department director.
• Unit Secretary ONLY: Completion of training in basic unit secretary tasks (i.e., transcription of physician order, computer data entry, etc).
