Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for PCU/Telemetry. This PRN position offers a varied schedule and an opportunity to support RN-led care in a fast-paced unit.

You will assist with vital signs, activities of daily living, and documentation while maintaining clean, stocked patient areas and collaborating with nursing staff. Requirements include BLS within 30 days, NC CNAI within 6 months, and CNA/EMT preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Registered in NC as a CNAI within 6 months of completing training program.
  • CNA or EMT license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
  • Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
  • Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
  • Manages the tech desk; supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
  • Documents care and activities per unit standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned.

How you'll contribute

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Registered in NC as a CNAIwithin 6 months of completing training program
  • License: CNA or EMT preferred
