Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have completed coursework and examinations to obtain certification as a Medication Technician per State regulations.
• Comply with standards of business conduct per health and regulatory guidelines.
• Must complete required continued education and maintain certification per State regulations.
• Must possess knowledge of state medication techniques.
• Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must adhere to attendance policies and facility employment terms.

Responsibilities

• Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Observes, records and reports symptoms and conditions related to medication interactions or side effects.
• Determines and records effectiveness of medications and upholds residents' rights during administration.
• Stores medications safely and in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Monitors medications for accountability through order receipt, administration, and shift changes.
• Inspects and maintains equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety and reports issues.
• Obtains, records, and reports vital signs as indicated during medication administration.
• Follows infection control practices and OSHA guidelines in daily operations.
• Communicates with residents and staff clearly and seeks guidance when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned and supports high-quality resident care.
• Protects residents' privacy and reports any non-compliance or abuse to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in emergency drills and assists with evacuations if required.
