Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Medication Assistant to provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living support under supervision. Responsibilities include vital signs, hygiene, transfers, ROM, and assisting with meals and medications as delegated by a nurse.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
• Completes yearly competency testing and maintains continuing education credits.
• Minimum 12 hours of continuing education annually based on state requirements.
• Maintains required certifications.
• When applicable, may need a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• CNA certification may be required in certain states (IA, MN, ND, SD).

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision.
• Assist with basic health care needs, including vital signs, bathing, grooming, and documenting observations.
• Assist with transfers, repositioning, and walking; provide ROM and passive exercises.
• Assist with meals and dining to create a positive dining experience.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Communicate changes in condition and follow-up with charge nurse.
• Collect non-invasive samples and vital signs.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry assistance as needed.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees.
