Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Registered Medication Associate (RMA) on a PRN basis to support high-quality resident care. The role focuses on medication administration, documentation, and adherence to state standards, while modeling the company’s core values as a Culture Ambassador.

The RMA will work flexible shifts, including weekends, and ensure confidentiality and safety in all medication-related tasks, with ongoing education to maintain certification.

Qualifications

  • Must have certification as a Resident Care Associate.
  • Must obtain continuing education credits to maintain certification.
  • Knowledge of safe medication administration and competency evaluation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willing to obtain.
  • Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible hours.
  • Demonstrates compassion for seniors and their families.
  • Proficient with basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and safely deliver the Medication Management Program.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures and state regulations when administering medications.
  • Administer and accurately record medications as prescribed.
  • Present medications and observe ingestion or completion of administration techniques.
  • Observe, record, and report complications or adverse reactions; consult with the Resident Care Director as needed.
  • Record effectiveness of medications promptly and accurately.
  • Document refusals and reasons for non-administration.
  • Store medications securely and maintain accountability.
  • Monitor medication processes across shifts and update logs.
  • Count and report controlled substances; address discrepancies with the Resident Care Director.
  • Inspect, clean, audit, and monitor equipment and supplies for safety.
  • Record vital signs during administration of medications.
  • Restock medication inventories and reorder as needed.
  • Document in resident records and complete incident reports as applicable.
  • Follow infection control practices per OSHA standards.
  • Communicate with residents and staff clearly; seek clarification from the Resident Care Director when needed.
  • Provide verbal encouragement and support to residents.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and professional demeanor.
  • Attend all required in-service trainings and education programs.
  • Act as shift supervisor when appropriate or directed.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Resident Care Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per job description.
