The role requires a state-licensed Medication Aide, high school diploma, and commitment to ongoing education to maintain certification.

Formación

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Licensed Medication Aide per state requirements and training.

Responsabilidades

• Follow policies and procedures governing medication administration.
• Note and report errors in administration of medications.
• Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
• Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports.
• Maintain professional relationships with nursing staff and physicians.
• Report resident complaints to the Director of Nursing Services.
• Participate in facility surveys and QA programs.
• Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications as ordered.
• Verify medications brought by residents are examined and identified by physician or pharmacist.
• Follow labeling and documentation procedures for medications.
• Document and manage discontinued medications.
• Notify appropriate personnel of medication receipt errors.
• Observe and verify resident medication ingestion or application.
• Record vital signs as required.
• Assist residents in self-administering medications when allowed.
• Maintain familiarity with medical abbreviations used in medication administration.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain certification.
