Job summary

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Must be a licensed Medication Aide per state regulations.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials.
• Ability to write reports and communicate effectively.
• Ability to present information to managers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Follow facility policies governing medication administration to residents.
• Note and report medication errors.
• Assist in developing procedures to reduce medication errors.
• Complete forms, charts, and reports as required.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
• Report complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs and relevant committees.
• Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications.
• Verify medications brought by new residents with physicians/pharmacy.
• Follow labeling and charting procedures for medications.
• Document discontinued medications and process drug receipt errors.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of medications per policy.
• Observe and verify patient ingestion or application; record refusals.
• Notify supervisors promptly of errors or reactions.
