Job summary

Midwest Health, Inc. seeks a Certified Medication Aide to assist in administering prescribed medications under physician direction. The role requires adherence to nursing standards, facility policies, and state regulations while maintaining resident privacy and accurate documentation.

You will ensure medications are properly labeled, stored, and charted, report errors promptly, and support residents in self-administration when appropriate. A CMA certification is essential to qualify.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CMA certification in good standing with the State.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Must be able to maintain resident privacy and accurately document medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering medications as ordered by the physician and under supervision.
• Comply with Community policies, nursing department procedures, and safety rules.
• Maintain a clean, organized medication cart and room; ensure proper labeling and dating of meds.
• Document and report medication errors or refusals immediately.
• Verify resident identity before administering medications and obtain signed orders.
• Support self-administration of medications by residents and document accordingly.
• Observe residents for refusals or adverse reactions and notify nurse supervisor as needed.
• Follow procedures for receiving, storing, and destroying medications as per policy.
