Job summary

Cedarhurst Living is seeking a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to administer medications and provide direct resident care in alignment with individualized care plans. You will support daily living activities, promote safety, and ensure accurate documentation of care and medication delivery.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will observe residents, communicate changes, and collaborate with physicians, families, and supervisors to maintain resident independence and well‑being.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current state-approved medication aide/technician certification.
• Insulin certification preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care services including medicine distribution to residents while following an individualized plan of care for all residents.
• Observe residents and communicate condition changes to physicians, health care proxies, and supervisors and provide timely interventions and communication as instructed.
• Document all pertinent observations, red flags, incidents, interventions, communication, clinical procedures, and daily medication assistance/care throughout the shift as indicated.
• Effectively pass required information to the next shift in a timely manner and ensure quality resident care.
• Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars, as assigned.
• Administer and document medications in accordance with the five rights.
• Provide glucose monitoring and insulin administration (insulin-certified technicians only).
• Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Assist in transfers and ambulation; respond to urgent calls as needed.
• Promote residents’ nutritional/hydration needs and document appropriately.
• Participate in oversight of medication delivery system and MAR documentation.
• Notify pharmacy/supervisor of issues and seek timely resolution.
• Attend in-service classes and lead/coach staff to improve performance.
