Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job is to assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the supervision of the nurse or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. Medications must be administered according to nursing standards, facility policies, and state requirements.
Education
Must possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide who has completed a state-approved training program and passed the necessary examinations.
Job Functions
- Follow facility policies and procedures for medication administration.
- Note and report any medication errors.
- Assist in developing procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports.
- Maintain professional relationships with staff, physicians, pharmacists, and others.
- Report resident complaints or grievances.
- Participate in facility inspections and surveys.
- Protect resident information and ensure confidentiality.
Specific Requirements
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Capable of providing age-appropriate care.
- Supportive team member with the ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to communicate tactfully with residents, families, and staff.
- Patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition.
- Documentation of certification is required.
- Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.
