Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your position is to assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the supervision of nursing staff and the Director of Nursing Services. Medications must be administered according to established nursing standards, policies, procedures, and state requirements.
Education
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide with successful completion of a state-approved training program and examinations.
Job Functions
- Follow facility policies and procedures for medication administration.
- Note and report medication errors.
- Assist in developing and implementing procedures to prevent medication errors.
- Complete necessary administrative forms, charts, and reports.
- Maintain professional relationships with staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
- Report resident complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections.
- Protect resident and facility information confidentiality and report violations.
- Report unauthorized access attempts and incidents of fraud.
- Log off unattended workstations and activate screen-savers as per policy.
Specific Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Knowledge to provide age-appropriate care.
- Supportive team player with decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
- Patience, tact, and enthusiasm in handling residents.
- Ability to document resident information accurately.
- Certification documentation required upon application.
- Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.
