Job description

Join to apply for the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) role at Cambridge Care Center.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of your job position is to assist in the administration of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the supervision of nursing staff. You will follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing medication administration in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Accurately prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications.
  2. Verify medications brought into the facility are properly examined and identified.
  3. Assist with medication charting and ensure medications are properly labeled and discontinued medications are documented.
  4. Monitor and record residents' vital signs and observe medication ingestion or application.
  5. Maintain proper medication storage according to guidelines.
  6. Participate in resident assessments and understand medical abbreviations related to medication administration.
  7. Report errors and perform administrative tasks related to medication management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed Certified Medication Aide with successful completion of a state-approved training program and examination.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and resident care needs.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with staff, residents, and families.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and office equipment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the facility, move intermittently, and handle emergency evacuations.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for 80-100% of the shift, lift up to 5 lbs floor to waist, and push/pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Must relate well to elderly, ill, and disabled residents, and work effectively in a sometimes stressful environment.

  • Work hours: 6am - 6pm shifts available any day of the week.
