Job summary

Mennonite Village is seeking a weekend Certified Medication Aide (CMA) for a part-time role in the Skilled Nursing team. You will administer medications, monitor residents, and support daily care under licensed nurses in a resident-centered environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer medications following physician orders and policies.

Looking for a rewarding weekend opportunity in healthcare? Join the Skilled Nursing team at Mennonite Village as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA). This part-time weekend position is ideal for compassionate, dependable individuals who are passionate about serving older adults and committed to providing safe, resident-centered care.

As a CMA, you will play a critical role in promoting medication safety, supporting resident well-being, and providing direct resident care. Working closely with licensed nurses and the interdisciplinary care team, you will administer medications, monitor residents for changes in condition, support resident care needs within the scope of the position, and help ensure residents receive the highest quality of care.

What You'll Do

• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and accepted nursing standards.
• Follow the five rights of medication administration: right resident, right medication, right time, right route, and right dose.
• Observe residents for adverse medication reactions and report concerns to the licensed nurse.
• Accurately document medication administration and resident care activities.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Respond promptly and professionally to resident call lights.
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure medication cart.
• Assist with resident transfers using proper equipment and safety procedures.
• Promote resident dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life.
• Follow infection prevention, confidentiality, and resident rights policies.
• Collaborate with nurses and other team members to provide exceptional resident care.

Ability to work weekends.

Required

• Current Oregon Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification in good standing.
• Ability to obtain CPR/AED certification within 120 days of hire.
• Knowledge of safe medication administration practices, medication documentation, and resident rights.
• Ability to accurately administer and document medications in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations.
• Ability to observe residents for changes in condition and report concerns promptly to licensed nursing staff.
• Ability to assist residents with activities of daily living within the scope of the position.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to resident safety.
• Ability to work scheduled weekend shifts consistently.

Preferred

• Previous experience as a CMA in a skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or senior living setting.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medication administration records (eMAR).
• Experience caring for older adults with complex medical or rehabilitative needs.
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations and best practices.
• Experience working in a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
