Company Description

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). You will provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with federal & state regulations and company guidelines, under the direction of LPN/LVN/RN or the Assisted Living/Health and Wellness Director.
  • Count and sign all narcotics on approved forms with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  • Order necessary medications and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
  • Notify supervisor when medication supplies are less than 2 days and have not been received.
  • Receive and verify all medication accuracy according to pharmacy labels and MAR. Report discrepancies to pharmacy and DH&W.
  • Ensure proper storage of all medications, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  • Date all vials or bottles upon initial opening and follow pharmacy protocols for usage duration.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of all medications to remove expired items.
  • Compare current MARs with new MARs at changeover and report discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them to a supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Administer general nursing care, such as taking vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document relevant information in daily logs and notify supervisors of concerns.
  • Assist residents with calls and needs as assigned.
  • Clean all medicine carts daily at the end of shifts and restock as needed.
  • Perform weekly deep cleaning of all medication carts.
  • Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including preparing charts for new admissions and readmissions, ensuring completeness within 48 hours per policies and regulations.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or 1-3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.

Experience: At least 1 month of experience, preferably in senior living.

Certifications: Current Medication Technician certification as per state regulations.

Language Skills: Proficiency in English for communication, emergency response, and job duties.

Technical Skills: Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
