Madeira Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for Certified Medication Assistants (CMA) to join our team.

The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) provides routine medication administration and personal care for residents, ensuring the highest quality of resident care at all times.

We offer both Full Time and Part Time positions.

Qualifications, Knowledge/Skills & Abilities
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligible to enter such a program, with graduation and passing a state test within 120 days of employment
  • Understanding of medication administration procedures and successful completion of a state-approved training course
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Understanding of resident care procedures and standards
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • Prior healthcare experience is desirable
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and agencies
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and ability to handle difficult residents
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods into nursing practices
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer medication according to physician’s orders and regulations
  • Know side effects, interactions, and nursing implications of medications
  • Account for controlled drugs each shift and report discrepancies
  • Chart medications, omissions, PRN documentation, and observations
  • Maintain medication inventory
  • Assist in rounds with nurses and physicians
  • Prepare monthly medication records
  • Provide personal care and basic nursing functions
  • Create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
  • Maintain resident documentation for daily activities and care plans
  • Attend training, education, and orientation to maintain certification
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to policies, safety, quality, and infection control standards
