In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). You will also provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plan needs of each resident.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines, under the direction of the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
  • Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  • Order necessary medications and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
  • Notify a supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  • Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and MAR, reporting discrepancies to pharmacy and DH&W.
  • Store all medications properly, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  • Date all vials or bottles upon initial opening and follow pharmacy protocols regarding usage duration.
  • Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
  • Compare current MARs with new MARs during changeovers and report discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them over to a supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Administer general nursing care such as vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document all relevant information in daily logs and report concerns to a supervisor.
  • Assist residents with their needs as assigned, including answering calls.
  • Maintain cleanliness of medication carts, including daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning, and restock as needed.
  • Participate in staff training and in-services.
  • Ensure medical records are complete within 48 hours for new admissions and readmissions, in accordance with policies and regulations.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or 1-3 months related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.

Experience: At least 1 month of experience, preferably in senior living.

Certifications: Current Medication Technician certification, depending on state regulations.

Language Skills: Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.

Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
