Job summary

The laboratory at UAB Hospital-Highlands is a fast-paced generalist environment where you will rotate through multiple disciplines, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, and molecular testing. You will perform routine and moderately complex lab procedures and report results under supervision.

Associate's degree required; certification as an MLT (ASCP or AMT) within 13 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; must obtain degree within nine months if currently in progress.
• Certified Medical Lab Technician (MLT) with ASCP or AMT within 13 months of hire.
• BLS certification may be required or obtained within 30 days depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform, check accuracy and report results of routine and moderately complex lab procedures on tissues, fluids and other substances.
• Prepare reagents, perform quality control, troubleshoot and assist with equipment maintenance.
