Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, MA is seeking a Medical Dosimetrist to join the Radiation Therapy Physics team. Under the supervision of the Director, you will develop treatment plans, assist with simulations, perform QA, and maintain dosimetry records to ensure accurate deliveries.

You will analyze tissue tolerances, calculate doses for conformal, IMRT and stereotactic plans, and collaborate with physicians and therapists. A BS, dosimetry training, and MDCB certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science with 1 year of clinical experience or equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved school of dosimetry preferred.
• MDCB Certified Medical Dosimetrist preferred; certification expected within 2 years if not certified.
• Strong background in science and ability to communicate with health care providers.

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists with patient simulations and immobilization under supervision.
• Develop computerized treatment plans and calculate doses for conformal, IMRT, stereotactic and forward planned patients.
• Know record and verify system and document dosimetry planning, scheduling, alerts and charge capture.
• Import and associate plans and fields to diagnosis and prescription in patient records and verify treatment delivery.
• Communicate setup, plan and delivery details to physicians and therapists.
• Generate patient charges for services rendered and maintain planning supplies.
• Order cutouts from vendors and monitor shipping; QA cutouts upon arrival.
• Participate in quality improvement and mandatory education.
