Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Cambridge is seeking a Chief Medical Physicist to lead the medical physics operations for the Radiation Oncology service. You will help establish the treatment planning and dosimetry service, evaluate prescriptions, and collaborate with radiation oncologists to design effective patient treatments.

You will recruit and supervise staff, develop equipment specifications, implement QA programs, and ensure compliance with safety and billing requirements while contributing

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Radiation Therapeutic Medical Physics or equivalent with 5+ years related experience.
• Board Certification as a Medical Physicist (ABR, ABMP, or equivalent).
• Deep knowledge of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures and techniques.
• Strong supervisory, communication, and team-building skills.
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establishes the treatment planning service in collaboration with radiology and oncology leadership.
• Evaluates planning and simulation software and equipment and implements configurations.
• Staff recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling.
• Develops equipment specs for radiation therapy, simulation, planning, brachytherapy, and detection equipment.
• Develops QA programs and ensures billing compliance with charge master updates.
• Oversees staff in planning and simulation, and maintains professional associations.
