Job summary

Beacon Health System in Indiana seeks an experienced Medical Coder to review and analyze patient records, assign DRGs, and ensure accurate data extraction for Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors. You will work with ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding, while maintaining high productivity and accuracy levels across inpatient and outpatient records.

Ideal candidates hold RHIT/RHIA/CCS or CPC credentials, with strong knowledge of coding guidelines and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology essential for coding.
• Proficiency with ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding principles.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze discharged patient records to ensure complete data for coding and abstracting.
• Assign ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes; determine DRG/APC for inpatient/outpatient records.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards for assigned job codes.
• Communicate with Patient Accounts and department managers on coding issues.
• Perform data entry for charges and coding summaries.
