Job summary

Alameda Health System is seeking a skilled Medical Coder responsible for interpreting medical documentation, assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and applying payer guidelines to maximize compliant reimbursement.

The role requires 3–5 years of coding experience, CCS-P or CPC certification, and strong collaboration with physicians and the Billing team. On-site position with a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in coding or related billing/revenue integrity.
• Experience coding and auditing professional fee procedures and office visits.
• Certification required: CCS-P or CPC from AHIMA or AAPC.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding conventions and CPT rules.
• Consult physicians for clarification before code assignment when data is ambiguous.
• Ensure accurate code assignment to support proper reimbursement and compliance.
• Perform month-end tasks and generate related reports for each assigned center.
• Educate physicians and the Billing & Collection team on billing/documentation.
