Southeast Georgia Health System Inc / SGHS seeks a skilled health information coder to join our Medical Records Department. You will identify and code patient discharges, ensuring accuracy and compliance with AHIMA, CMS and federal guidelines in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will collaborate with ancillary departments, review physician queries, and monitor billing accounts to prevent delays. A high school diploma, plus 2 years acute care coding experience and credentials such as RHIA, RHIT,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of acute care/hospital coding experience.

Responsabilités

• Identifies and codes all patient discharges, maintaining a high accuracy rate.
• Demonstrates understanding of policies, procedures and federal guidelines that apply to coding and related work in Medical Records.
• Monitors accounts not selected for billing to avoid delays in coding.
• Communicates current and revised coding changes to ancillary departments and Medical Staff.
• Accurately completes physician queries in accordance with AHIMA standards.
• Reviews CDI concurrent reviews prior to inpatient accounts release for billing.
• Reviews injection, infusion, OPS, and ER charges for accuracy while assigning codes for billing.
• Performs tasks within requirements of CMS and other regulatory agencies.
