Job summary

UNC Health Pediatrics at Knightdale seeks a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under supervision and help with patient care,registration, and coordination of tests and referrals.

The role requires MA certification and BLS, with preferred completion of an accredited program. This is a full-time, onsite position with day schedule and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred but not required.
• Medical Assistant certification by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA required.
• Basic Life Support (AHA/ARC) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and/or intake, collects vital signs and data related to visit.
• Collects patient and family data, including medical and social history.
• Reviews current medications, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists the provider during treatments, exams, and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
• Reviews records to determine routine health screenings.
• Prepares and maintains exam/treatment rooms and supplies.
